UMM Agribusiness Synergizes to Uncover the Secret of Successful Agricultural Economy in the Digital Age

Malang, 19 September 2023 - The Agribusiness Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has successfully held a guest lecture entitled “The Role of Agricultural Economics in Supporting the Digital Transformation of the Agricultural Sector” today. The event, which was attended by various related parties in the agricultural sector, was lively and inspiring.


The seminar was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of UMM, students of batches 2019, 2021, and 2022 of the Agribusiness Study Program, as well as students of the Diploma 4 (D4) Poultry Agribusiness program. The presence of students from various generations reflects high enthusiasm for topics that are very relevant in the current era of digitalization.


The main speaker in this seminar was Prof. Dr. Ir. Irham, MSc, who also serves as the Head of the Postgraduate Study Program at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Prof. Irham is an expert in agricultural economics and has devoted himself to research and development of the Indonesian agricultural sector.


In his presentation, Prof. Irham comprehensively discussed the importance of agricultural economics in supporting the digital transformation of the agricultural sector. He emphasized that digital technology has brought major changes in the agricultural sector, ranging from production efficiency to marketing of agricultural products. Prof. Irham also provided insights into the opportunities and challenges faced by agricultural actors in adopting digital technology.


The Head of the Agribusiness Study Program, Ary Bakhtiar, stated that this guest lecture is one of the important steps in preparing students to face paradigm shifts in the agricultural sector. He also hopes that the knowledge gained from this guest lecture will have a positive impact on the development of agriculture in Indonesia.


The guest lecture “The Role of Agricultural Economics in Supporting the Digital Transformation of the Agricultural Sector” successfully created a valuable platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and collaboration between academics, students, and practitioners in agriculture. This event is also clear evidence that UMM continues to be committed to providing relevant education to its students.
