UMM Agribusiness students carry out routine watering for plant seeds at UD Toms Agribis
Banyuwangi (20/12), UMM Agribusiness Study Program continues to be committed to delivering students to graduate with qualified work skills. Field Work Practice (PKL) is one of the stages that must be passed in the study, in its implementation students are accompanied by Field Assistance Lecturers (DPL) who will provide assistance before and after the implementation of the PKL program. It is hoped that during the PKL, Agribusiness Study Program students will be able to apply knowledge during lectures and interact directly with business actors and be able to find new business opportunities in the future.
As one example of a partner, UD. Toms Agribis, which is located on Jalan Pekulo - Kepundungan Village, Srono District, Banyuwangi Regency. The business, which is engaged in breeding chilies, tomatoes, eggplants and broccoli, is a business owned by an alumnus of IESP UMM class of 1997, Mr. Fathur Rohman.
The business has a vision to be a source of employment in the surrounding area and a mission to provide insight and knowledge for the surrounding community to know the prospects of nurseries in the surrounding area. The company, which has been established since 2010 until now, has a very rapid development. Starting with about 300 meters of land to develop into 3 places with an area of ± 1 hectare.
During a visit to Agribusiness Study Program partner Ary Bakhtiar as DPL, stated that this PKL program is spread throughout Indonesia (UMM Agribusiness Study Program Partners), and students are given the freedom to determine partners who have collaborated with the Study Program. Furthermore, this is in line with the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) Program, said Ary Bakhtiar. Furthermore, UD. Toms Agribis is very supportive of this PKL program, “that the implementation of PKL is the implementation of activities that have been obtained on campus which are collaborated with activities in the field, so far PKL has been used as a learning arena for students to prepare to go directly into the world of work later, ”concluded Fathur.
