How UMM Agribusiness Revived What Was Once Dead
The PPK Ormawa program involving Agribusiness students from UMM has been the key to the success behind the recovery of WTSP. Students collaborate with the local farming community to identify problems and design sustainable solutions.
Through their efforts, WTSP now offers a more engaging tourism experience with a variety of activities that involve visitors. Planting vegetables as an educational activity at Wisata Taman Sayur Pandesari
The vegetable-picking activity has become one of the main attractions of WTSP. Visitors can experience the sensation of directly picking fresh vegetables from the garden, which they can either take home or enjoy as a dish at a local restaurant that serves fresh meals made from that day's harvest.
"We are very grateful for the close collaboration between the PPK ORMAWA Team of the Agribusiness Student Association at UMM, the WTSP managers, the farmers, and the village government." "This is a real example of how higher education can have a positive impact on society," said Festy Putri, an Agribusiness lecturer. Festy Putri, advisor to the PPK Ormawa Agribusiness students, who in this case is also working together with Zul Mazwan and Wahid Muhammad Shodiq.
This program also helps UMM Agribusiness students gain valuable field experience while making a positive contribution to the local community. They have assisted in the development of various innovations in managing agro-tourism, natural resource management, and marketing local agricultural products.
With a significant increase in the number of visitors and the active role of students in the PPK Ormawa program, the Pandesari Vegetable Garden Tourism (WTSP) is expected to continue developing as a sustainable tourist destination.
This is inspiring about how collaboration between universities, communities, and village governments can create a sustainable positive impact in society.
