, February 24 2025 - Semester holiday is over at University of Muhammadiyah Malang, indicating that students must gradually compete again in lectures, including the Agribusiness department.

Inside the GKB 4 on the 9th floor, the Agribusiness Department held a guest lecture by an expert in the field of exports, namely Sumhaji, CEO of Memindo. Sumhaji and Memindo, which he founded, have export experience to more than 40 countries including India, Malaysia, America, and European countries.

On this occasion, Sumhaji shared his journey in the world of agrocomplex commodity exports. He did not hesitate to share his export business strategies, while emphasizing the importance of the role of the younger generation as exporters of agrocomplex products. He expressed his belief that agrocomplex products, which are resistant to crisis and have the potential to increase the country's foreign exchange, are golden opportunities for young people who want to make achievements in the global market.

Sumhaji told his story of twists and turns in the export world, from negotiations in India that once brought a 10-container shipment contract despite losses due to unforeseen obstacles, to continued success with a Malaysian multinational company that resulted in a regular contract for the shipment of 15 containers every year.

Through his stories in the export world, Sumhaji emphasized that every challenge, be it complex regulations, limited capital, language barriers, or administrative issues, can be overcome with careful preparation and a passion for learning and innovation.

In his presentation entitled “EXPORT EXPERIENCE AND SKILL WITHOUT A PRODUCT, HOW DOES IT WORK?”, Sumhaji elaborated that the key to success in the export business is not always determined by having a superior product from the start, but rather by the ability to find export-worthy products and master various marketing and promotional techniques.

He encouraged the youth to build a strong buyer database, understand all export procedures from terms of payment to incoterms, and utilize various channels, both offline through trade shows and online through digital platforms. According to him, this holistic approach will open up opportunities to find international buyers and penetrate the global market.

Sumhaji also emphasized that the export world is a dynamic arena where courage and perseverance are needed. By utilizing field experience and established networks, the youth can turn every obstacle into an opportunity, so that even if they do not initially have a superior product, they can still become successful export-preneurs.(RZL)
